The Emotional Mathematics
by Jean Ruiter
2002

The truth of logic is implemented in nature and there is no doubt in the human brain about the outcome. Still I have the intuition that there is more then 1 logic, a supernatural logic where fact becomes fiction. If we measure with our standard knowledge of logic, we will not accept another outcome and we will call any other outcome nonsensical.
Hereby you’ll find some new works which challenge the traditional logic of mathematics, a visualization of what I try to say. The facts are shown in the classical formula like 2 + 2 = 4, but now with icons which normally never appear in such a formula. The outcome is fictitious, or in other words, differs from when we try to prove the validity of the calculation. When I multiply a color with an image of charcoal, we will see this as an incorrect calculation. Why?
Why can’t we multiply or divide or add a color with a material, or a digit with an object?
This 4th dimension of experience cannot be proven , neither wrong or right, it is beyond our imagination, beyond our boundaries of thinking. The investigation through these images challenges this imagination of the brain and asks you to cope with looking at things from a different perspective. Not to prove that this is another logic, but simply to emphasize that our logic is probably not the only existing logic, like it is proven by scientist that in 'quantum mechanics' order can change without any logic reason. They call it emotional intelligence because nobody understands.
